Community & Cultural Investment

DUOF is deeply committed to preserving and uplifting Black history, culture, and community spaces. Our longstanding partnership with the Douglass-Truth Library supports one of the largest collections of African American literature in the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to annual financial contributions, DUOF has helped expand the library’s children’s collection, increasing access to culturally relevant books for families in Seattle’s Central District.

DUOF supports programs that elevate women entrepreneurs and foster economic growth within the community. Through targeted investments and events, the Foundation creates opportunities for Black women-owned businesses to connect, grow, and thrive.

OUR FOCUS

DUOF is intentional about supporting programs and partnerships that primarily benefit women, youth, and communities of color. From education access to cultural preservation, our work is rooted in equity, representation, and long-term community investment.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Connecting Directly with the Community

Each year, we participate in the Black College Expo at Rainier Beach High School, engaging with students and families to share scholarship opportunities and promote educational access. This direct outreach reflects our commitment to meeting the community where it is and ensuring families are informed about available resources.
